My Own Worst Critic

I am my own worst critic.
Seriously. I will shut down my Lightroom or Photoshop because I feel like my photos are never good enough. Practice makes perfect but I am extremely impatient. I know I need to keep working at it, practicing, learning every trick there is in the book, and find my editing style. Yet, I have a tendency to base my work off of others and I am the worst on my own self.
I have started to learn that I am not like everyone else. I am me. I am Chrissy. Since I am a student in Psychology, I learn all the time different ways people deal with different scenarios. It is human nature to be self-critical of yourself. It just is. It's human nature to look on social media and see the lives of others and be jealous sometimes. It's fine. It happens. But what that should do is make you strive to be better. Now, those who are not like this are probably rolling their eyes and that's fine too. Everyone is different. Some are worse than others when it comes to self doubting themselves. I call you lucky, hah!
Focus on YOU
When I am editing a photo, I try to avoid social media completely. I do not want the distraction of searching my favorite instagram photographer. Once I do, I will start criticizing my own work and I will shut it down. Do what YOU find satisfying and do it. Then when you're done, save it. Now, wait a few hours or so and go back. Do you still love what you did? Are you proud of yourself? Then post that crap out of it on your profiles! BE PROUD!
Listen to your favorite music
Listen to what makes you happy. Whether you're painting, sewing, editing, drawing, etc. It is a great stress reliever for me and it makes me focus more on my project. I learned in one of my classes that music has a relaxing effect on your mind. Jacob Lee is one of my favorite artists to listen to when I'm working. Very calm music.
When I want to be really hyped up, I listen to Badflower. ♫
Whatever you do, I hope you can overcome being critical to yourself. It is something I am still working on. If you know better ways of overcoming this, don't hesitate to message me.
